Mission Statement

The Committee supports the mission of the university through overseeing policies, procedures, and programming that impact the quality of student life on campus, evaluates ongoing community-building efforts locally, nationally, and internationally, and engages alumni and other constituencies in a lifelong, worldwide GW community. This includes:

  • reviewing program and service offerings that affect the overall quality, satisfaction, and outcomes of the student experience;
  • monitoring career services and experiential learning, health, wellness, and prevention-related services, athletics and recreation, campus housing, career services and experiential learning, family outreach, health and wellness, international services, military and veteran student services, multicultural services, safety and security, student conduct, student event and engagement activities, student governance, and Title IX;
  • developing appropriate recommendations to the administration to improve ongoing relationships with various student and campus constituencies in support of the student experience;
  • contributing to efforts to build a strong sense of affiliation to the university and to foster a greater connection between alumni and current students;
  • assisting the administration in developing and maintaining favorable relationships on the university’s campuses, in the neighborhood, with the District of Columbia, the adjoining states, the federal government, and global partners; and
  • maintaining a working relationship with members of the university community who are responsible for external relationships locally, nationally, and internationally.
